About this property

Welcome to The Westin Cozumel

Situated along a Caribbean Sea beach in Cozumel's Zona Hotelera Norte, The Westin Cozumel offers understated, seafront accommodations designed with a contemporary and relaxed style. The resort features an outdoor pool, rooftop infinity pool, a poolside bar, and a spa, catering to guests looking for a calm atmosphere rather than a lively party scene. Rooms are noted for their comfort, large balconies, and ocean views, with reviewers frequently highlighting the quality of the beds and spaciousness.

The property is located approximately 6 km from Cozumel Airport, making it conveniently accessible while remaining somewhat removed from the town center. Guests typically use taxis or private transportation to reach downtown and local attractions. Snorkeling directly from the beach is a popular activity, praised by visitors for its quality despite occasional warnings about strong currents, and the onsite dive shop offers equipment rentals to supplement what is available. Some guests advise caution when snorkeling due to shifting currents.

Facilities at The Westin Cozumel include dining options such as the Mexican restaurant Las Gaviotas nearby, and the hotel's own poolside and room service menus, which receive mixed feedback for variety and pricing. The resort's service is generally described as attentive and friendly, although some guests mention minor issues like towel service inconsistencies and spa fees that are added automatically. The hotel is also noted for being LGBTQ+ friendly, appealing to diverse travelers seeking a welcoming environment.

Reviewers describe the resort as clean and well-maintained, with a tranquil vibe suitable for visitors looking to unwind rather than party. While food and menu variety may not be extensive, the overall experience is regarded positively, especially for those prioritizing comfortable accommodations and easy access to beach activities.

Loved our stay at the Westin. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. The bar tenders at the sky lounge were incredibly kind. Beach was great and the snorkeling right at the hotel is incredible. Views from our room were the best on the island! Might recommend having some more snorkel gear available as it was all checked out at points, but otherwise our stay was flawless. Thank you to the great staff!

Excellent hotel, with spotless rooms, friendly staff, and incredible views! The service here is top-notch, but make sure you head up to the rooftop pool. It was easily the highlight of my stay and the best place to take in the scenery. Overall, a fantastic experience, I highly recommend catching a sunset from the deck!

This place has great snorkeling. The breakfast was mid grade, and we didn't do the all inclusive. The beds were the best ever and it's a nice quiet hotel. Best snorkeling hotel on the island.... unless there is a red flag warning. TIP: Do not rent a car here for 150$ when you can have a jeep delivered for $57 with insurance from one of the companies in town.

One of the comfiest hotel beds I've stayed at in a while. Our housekeeper Teresa was fantastic and had cute animal towels and cleaned the floor daily so the room was perfect. It's a bit outside of town so expect to pay 150-200 pesos for a ride into downtown but no problem finding a taxi. Staff were friendly overall and the food menu was only decent. Would also mention the spa has a mandatory fee added on to the bill - in addition to taxes - so just be aware. Overall nice spot with great views.

Our room was comfortable and large. Very large balcony with two chairs, comfortable bed, table with two chairs in room, and a comfortable side chair. The beach and pool area are very nice. Snorkeling was great fun. Snorkel gear offer 1 hr free or $20 per day. There were some pesky details that aggravated us. One day, we were only given one towel. The second day, zero towels till we called to request and they were delivered to us. Low light in the room - my side of the bed didn’t have a lamp. The food service on the property was disappointing. Breakfast buffet wasn’t restocking this morning, stale pastries, not up to par, bees landing on food. The ocean front restaurant wasn’t great - we ate there twice. Midday, we waited at the pool grill for over an hour for two shrimp burgers and then the waitress asked that we tip her in cash. Generally, I wouldn’t recommend eating on the property. We had a great time but we won’t return to this particular Westin.

Excellent stay at Westin Cozumel. We opted for the all inclusive option, as we didn't want to have to think about eating out, and had a bedroom with 2 queen beds. All bedrooms face the ocean, and the hotel is clean, well cared for, and in great shape. Staff was generally very good. Front desk very helpful, and servers in restaurants were always great and super nice. The pool is nice, quiet, and right next to the beach. If you are looking for a big party - this may not be the place. This is more of a chill laid back vibe. The food was for the most part very good. A few meal services took a little while, but was no big deal. The breakfast buffet is excellent, and changes daily. The lunch menu at the pool is Mexican pub style food, and we tried many of the options. Two of us were vegetarians, and while the vegetarian meals were limited, we had options at every meal. The dinner restaurants were good, and they even have a different menu for room service, if you prefer to eat there. Our only complaint about the menu was that it never changed for lunch and dinner. Given there is no buffet at these times, and the menu is static, it maybe got a little repetitive after a week. The snorkelling is world class, right off the beach. Careful - the current can be strong, so make sure you gauge how far down current you go. We brought our own snorkel gear, but you can get from the onsite dive shop. We walked outside the hotel, and felt safe the whole time. There are other restaurants that are near, and a dessert place as well. It is about a 10 minute cab ride to the airport, and about the same downtown. Typical tourist downtown, with all the usual Mexican gifts and souvenirs. Never once did we feel unsafe, and there was no sargassum on our beaches, even though Playa del Carmen had a lot come ashore during our stay. Overall, we really enjoyed our time on Cozumel, staying at The Westin. We loved the vibe, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends.

We had a great stay at The Westin Cozumel. The resort is beautiful, very clean, and well-maintained. The food was delicious, though definitely on the pricier side if you don’t have the all-inclusive package. We loved the rooftop infinity pool, and the soaking tub on our balcony was such a relaxing bonus. Renting a car was easy, and we were able to park right at the resort without any issues. We also snorkeled off the shore, which offered amazing views, but I want to share our experience for awareness: even *with* life jackets on, my husband and I were swept away along the shoreline and drifted several properties down before we could get ourselves out on the rocky coast. It was very difficult and definitely scary, so I highly recommend wearing a life jacket and using extra caution when snorkeling in front of the resort, as the current can change suddenly. One small inconvenience was that daytime excursions regularly came to use the pier and beach area, which is a bit tight since the beach itself is small. Overall, we still really enjoyed our stay, the property is beautiful, the food is good, and the friendly staff make it a memorable place to visit. We’d be happy to return!

The place is really nice, and everyone who works there is incredibly friendly. The food is amazing, and the property itself is beautiful. The only downside is that the pools are really cold. That said, it’s still the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Cozumel, and I would absolutely recommend it.
